Hope Deferred…

Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.

Proverbs 13:12 KJV

This Christian walk can seem lonely at times.

We find ourselves standing on the Word of God and others see our stance and belittle it, or point out how long we’ve been standing on that Word. So they tell us “that couldn’t have been God” or “you don’t have faith/you don’t believe, that’s why you didn’t receive it yet”.

Never mind the fact that there are countless examples of people in the Bible who believed but didn’t receive the promise right away. Noah, was ridiculed for many many years before God opened the heavens and rained on the earth.

Just because it didn’t happen right then doesn’t mean that it won’t happen ever.

During that time we learn that God is faithful, and our own faith is built upon.

Abraham and Sarah had to wait, and it definitely looked as if God’s Word could never come to pass.

They waited so long that they decided to help God with the process. But we all know that only the promised son received the fulfillment of the word God gave. The other son was blessed but not as greatly as the younger and it gave way to generational curses of the younger receiving the inheritance for the children and grandchildren and so on.

God is not a liar, He is just(ice). God gave them their promised son. Then He tried Abraham’s heart when He asked for his son back. Abraham waited so long and walked with the Lord for so long up to that point, That he trusted God would not take what He gave him, the promise of inheritance. Abraham trusted God to provide a sacrifice.

Jesus came across many people who had faith that “God would do it” for them like He did for others. These people waited for the promise for many years also.

Though, there were those who got the blessing or healing right away, there were many more who waited long and suffered much before receiving their breakthroughs.

Faith builds character, and appreciation.

Faith and time build relationship. That type of bond is not easily broken.

A relationship built on trust, respect, and knowing that the other ‘person’ has your back and your best interest in mind.

You can’t buy that kind of bond and you defiantly can’t fake it.

It may not feel like it now, but just hold on to His unchanging hand and He will see you through.
