There is this one cat that I actually like. The only domesticated cat that I like. He’s a character, and extremely smart. But no matter how much catly wisdom he has, he still doesn’t understand when he’s being favored.
His heart is big, so he has invited other cats to come and get some food, when he’s outside. But then his cat instincts kick in and he says ” okay, that’s enough, your strong enough to go find your own people now.” But by then it’s too late, the other cats decide they are in titled to everything he owns. Then they tell him he’s not welcome in his own home/yard.
My mother has taken pity on the strays and abandoned cats, that he (the only cat I like) has brought home or another cat told where to find a “good meal”. She can’t bear to see them so thin and pitiful. I have allergies so I don’t want them around.
But that’s enough backstory. The only cat that I like was born in the house, he belongs to my brother. He was spoiled from birth. He got whatever he asked for, even got to choose his own meals, but he saw the other cats outside and wanted to be like them.
Even though they hated him because he was given anything and everything his little cat heart could desire. He wanted to be like them, and they wanted to replace him.
He started refusing to eat his food in the safety and comfort of his own house, and requested his meals be served outside like the rest of the cats.
I didn’t mind because I had allergies, so “great, goodbye, now all of you find new people 😃”. My mother, even though it inconvenienced her to have to do extra steps, and it brought more cats to the yard, she still tried to accommodate his request.
Now that he’s older and probably feeling life a little more, not to mention if the others persist, he will just give in and say “they must need it more than me” or “that’s a mother and her kittens, they need to eat” and he lets them take his food.
Part of that has to be that he feels confident in the fact that mommy will provide more food. He knows all he has to do is find her and she, may be mad, will go fix him more. Some times he doesn’t eat all day because he allowed it to be taken and or he gave it away because he didn’t get to choose the flavor that feeding. But he knows he can get more so he doesn’t worry about the expenses of wasted food or the frustration or anything.
What he missed is all the treats that he could have gotten with his meal, the time shared with his favorite person, and all the extras that come with living or even eating in the house brings.
Are you murmuring? Is said complaining keeping you from the fullness of joy? Are you truly receiving all that the Lord has for you?
Remember murmuring kept the children of Israel wandering around in the desert for 40 years, they couldn’t see just how good God was currently being to them, because they were so focused on what they didn’t have, and what they saw other people had before.
They couldn’t fathom that they had it better than the others even in the desert. They couldn’t see that others would be envious of them and how God blessed them, daily.
Gratitude is the opposite of complaining. Which tug do you submit yourself subject to? Blessings and curses, even though the children of Israel were still being blessed, some of them were cursed not to see the promised land. The bigger blessing was halted because of their lack of gratitude towards the everyday miracles they had seen.
How’s your heart looking family? Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. It’s really a heart issue.
Lord forgive us for the lack of gratitude and the spirit of complaint.
Complaining spirit leave now in Jesus’ name! You are no longer welcome in our lives!
Lord we thank You for the little things as well as the bigger things and the everything in between things.
Forgive us for how we sin against You. Fill the space that the wicked spirit has left void with Your presence, that it can enter no more. Give us the foresight to know when to be grateful and when to be silent. Teach us how to silence the voice of the enemy and to know that these are not our own thoughts. In Jesus, Lord of the resurrection and the blessing’s, most Holy name ❣️
